Let’s Do It Ourselves: Decorating Your Own Ceramic Pot at Home

Let’s Do It Ourselves: Decorating Your Own Ceramic Pot at Home

A few days ago, I attended a pottery workshop, thanks to a friend who suggested it to me. It was an immersive experience in itself. The process of making the pots before placing them in the kiln truly connects you with them. As an avid gardener, ceramic pots are already placed in every corner of my flat. This workshop made me wonder what more I could do with them. That’s when I spotted the plain-looking pots — with colours, marker pens, and crystals at hand, I was ready to get creative again.

Author’s Note: I bought some plain-looking pots from Urvann India at prices that are not easily available offline (especially when you add the travelling costs I usually bear to reach the nursery). While I’m often sceptical about buying online, their business turned out to be something I can truly trust. When my friend told me about this lifesaving business in Delhi, I quickly added two plants and three ceramic pots to my cart. And here’s what I did with my creative mind!

Designing Your Ceramic Pot In The Best Way

1. Pick up Crystals, Glue and get to work

When I was a kid, I loved decorating things during summer vacations. Now, thinking back, I’ve been spending my weekends decorating ceramic pots at home. It’s very simple, I draw a pattern with a pencil and stick the crystals along the lines. There are different types of crystals available, like coloured crystals, glass shapes, and more.

2. Acrylics, You Go Next!

Let’s be kids again! My old colour box had been collecting dust for a long time, and it was the first thing that came to my mind while preparing a flower pot design. After tracing beautiful mandalas on the pot, I added colours and nice shades to my drawings.

3. Permanent Marker Pens

One of my friends also suggested simply adding a highlight to the pots. It can be done by playing with markers. Just make a nice drawing or use a pastel colour and draw a cute emoji on the pot, that can do the job perfectly!

4. Clay Art Work is Next Level Craft

Have you ever roamed around an Indian market and come across clay craftwork? Well, those paintings serve as inspiration for decorating pots in a similar way. Make thin, rope-like designs and stick them to the surface of the pots. Then, adorn the gaps with glass pieces. Your plant friend will look stunning in it!

My Way of Buying Ceramic Pots Online

At first, it was a new experience for me, too. I get it, that feeling we have after visiting a plant or ceramic pot shop, looking at the pots, and deciding to buy one. But due to a lack of time, weeks turned into months, and my hobby was pushed aside. After some thought, I decided to give online shopping a try. Urvann was one of the first results that popped up in my search. They offered highly affordable plant products, and since I was new to online shopping, I didn’t want to invest too much. So, we were a perfect match for each other.

Final Thoughts

So, does this inspire the creative side of you? Well, even if it doesn’t, then do it for your plant! A little personal touch can turn a simple ceramic pot into a beautiful home for your green buddy. Plus, these small DIY projects are not only fun but also add a unique charm to your space. Whether it’s crystals, colours, markers, or clay designs, each piece reflects your creativity and care. So go ahead, pick up that plain pot, and give it a makeover your plant will proudly flaunt!
